Rules

Admission and Withdrawals

  1. New admission as a rule subject to a test and interview.
  2. Application for a leaving certificate shall be made in writing by the parents or guardian. transfer certificate will be issued three days after the receipt of the application.
  3. A month’s notice in writing is required before a pupil is withdrawn. in lieu of such notice a full additional month’s fee will be charged plus the vacation month’s fee where applicable. no notice is accepted during the school vacation.
  4. Although catholic schools are meant primarily for catholics they may also admit, other children irrespective of caste and creed.

Punctuality and Order

  1. All pupil must be present for the morning assembly during which they pray together. students have no entry after the first bell.
  2. The school authorities are not responsible for the safety of any pupil after school hours. necessary arrangements should therf ore be made to take the child home promptly after class.
  3. Pupils are not allowed to leave the school premises without the permission of the principal which will be granted only at the request of the parent.
  4. The school does not accept responsibilities kit any lost articles
  5. Students have no permission to use two wheelers without licence and helmet.

Absence

  1. Leave of absence is granted only for serious reasons and on submission of a written application in advance.
  2. Appointment with doctors etc. should as far as possible be made outside the school hours.
  3. All are expected to attend school on the opening day after each of vacations. pupils now attending punctuality after holidays are liable to have their names stuck off the rolls.
  4. In case of the absence without leave pupils must have the reasons of absence certificate by the parents or guardians. after a contagious or infectious disease a doctor’s certificate is essential for reassuring class.
  5. Sectional holidays pertaining to the child’s creed will be granted only on previous written application.

Examinations and Promotions

  1. Promotions are decided on the results of the test, conducted during the academic year.
  2. Pupils who fail twice in the same class will be asked to leave the school.
  3. Promotion refused will not be reconsidered.
  4. Periodic tests are found necessary to assess the ingenuity and studious nature of students. it also promotes healthy competition among themselves and help them make aware of their own shortcomings and failure in their study habits on getting them graded again and again.
  5. Holding on to these principles, we conduct two class-tests and two terminal examinations before the final examination. one must not absent oneself from any of these examinations except when prevented by reason of health, in which case a medical certificate may be submitted in advance.
  6. These tests cannot be deferred nor anticipated to suit individual convenience. no re-examinations will he conducted in any subject. absence from or failure in a subject excludes a student from being reckoned in the order of merit.
  7. Parents are welcome to consult the subject teachers to make out the defects and common mistake committed by the children in their answer sheets within the limited time announced after the results of each test.
  8. Any kind of malpractice in the tests, attempted or intended by any student, is punishable with suspension or expulsion from the tests or from school according to the gravity of the offence and at the discretion of the principal.
  9. The norms of promotion are fixed as per timely directions received from the department of education. it depends on the marks scored in each test and final examination and also on internal assessment based on attendance, home-work, composition, general discipline, co-curricular activities etc.
  10. The results of the unit tests and terminal examinations will be given to the parents in the report card, while the final result of the academic year on promotion or detention will be given directly to the parents on result day.
  11. Students who could not secure promotion to the next standard due to inability to study the subjects in english medium may be asked to leave the school. students failing twice in the same standard or thrice in different standard will have to leave the school. the decision of the principal shall be final in this matter.

Discipline

  1. Discipline is an integral part of the learning process. for this a student has to learn self control, by understanding his emotions and impulses. he must learn to live in harmony with others by respecting the customs and traditions of the family and society, by keeping the laws of the country and by obeying the commandments of god.
  2. Order must be the hall-mark of our school. for this an atmosphere of silence must be maintained by everyone during working hours in classrooms, staff-rooms and office. thus everyone should contribute to maintain an excellence of standards.
  3. Cleanliness is a pre-requiste of orderliness. therefore all the class-rooms corridors and the campus, as a whole, must reflect this tone of our school, which aims at bringing up the young persons to mature adulthood.
  4. Everyone must get acquainted with the rules and regulations of the school given in this handbook besides the timely instruction given by the authorities through public announcements or by notices issued. ignorance of rules will not be accepted as an excuse.
  5. Students arriving in school campus before first bell have to go straight to their own class-room and be busy with the day’s lessons, exercise or home work, in silence. They must not be seen outside their class-rooms or in the play-grounds.
  6. At the first bell, both students and staff shall assemble in the quadrangle in class order. on dispersal the students move to their own class-rooms in perfect order together with their class-leader at the rear of the line.
  7. When the teacher enters the class-room him/her and remain standing until they are asked to sit or the teacher takes his/her seat. they shall thank the teacher when the class is over.
  8. Students shall not leave their class-rooms during or in between two periods, but remain silent and prepare for the next period. when they are taken out the library, laboratory or the play grounds, they have to move in two lines keeping the left side of corridors.
  9. Students shall not enter any other classroom than his/her own at any time. they are responsible to look after their own articles. they may not bring to school valuable and curious articles, books or magazines, etc not prescribed in syllabus. they may not put on gold ornaments.
  10. The class rooms, corridors and the school premises shall be kept neat and clean. waste paper or other waste materials must always be thrown into the waste boxes provided. they may always take care that the display boards, walls, furniture, black-boards, shelves etc. are kept neat and in order.
  11. The students and staff are expected to speak only in english once they enter the school campus except in language classes. each one should endeavor to keep high the refined tone of the school by excelling in good manners and department.
  12. The handbook issued to every students at the beginning of the year is to be kept neat and tidy all through the year and to be brought to school everyday. students are not allowed to write anything in it except in the calender part of it. it must be safely kept throughout the year and will not be easily replaced. if once lost, a new one has to be collected from the office, but only with the special permission of the principal on the recommendation of the class-teacher. it is the important document of the student’s career, conduct and studies in the school for the year and hence is not to be replaced easily.
  13. Mobiles phones are not allowed for the students in the campus.
